The Venetian-inspired Gallery by Bacaro, situated in the Tweed Regional Gallery in Murwillumbah, has a delectable new menu that’s sure to appeal. The café owners recently closed their original café to focus their attention on this lovely location. Here you can enjoy some great coffee, a leisurely breakfast or a laid-back lunch with the most divine views.

If you love the romantic charm of an old tearoom, plan a visit to Flutterbies Cottage Cafe, located in the picturesque foothills of Mount Warning in the grounds of the restored Bakery and Butcher in Tyalgum. On entry, you’re greeted with a décor that includes exquisite French linen, gorgeous flowers and delightful vintage crockery. Their menu includes daily specials as well as fresh, organic coffee, an extensive selection of teas and their own homemade lemonade. Their Devonshire Teas are the stuff of legend, so call in and find out for yourself.

Nostalgic for old-style cafés with seating booths? Take a trip down memory lane and visit The Austral Cafe and Bakery in Murwillumbah. In our opinion, they have the best burger menu in town with homestyle burgers that you’d be hard-pressed to get your mouth around.

For a spot of lunch amid some glorious country scenery, check out the Elwood Cafe in Burringbar. Situated in a beautifully restored old cottage, the café offers a selection of delicious meals and excellent coffee.

Hankering after some delectable baklava or some lovely fresh bagels? Then head to The Modern Grocer in Murwillumbah where they not only serve the most delicious baked goods but also have a deli where you can buy delicious produce to take home.

The restaurants we’ve chosen for you encompass the charm of country hospitality and great food, prepared mostly from locally grown ingredients.

What could be better than relaxing on a spacious veranda and enjoying a meal with friends? Well, The Balcony Restaurant in Murwillumbah, open for lunch and dinner, offers just that. All their meals are lovingly prepared by chef Aaron from local produce and are reasonably priced. Vegetarians, too, can rejoice in the good selection of vegetarian meals.

For traditional and aromatic Indian food, check out Coriander Indian Restaurant in Murwillumbah. Here you can enjoy a variety of flavourful curries and tandoor dishes served by friendly and attentive staff.

Set in a beautiful country homestead on a former dairy farm, the restaurant serves amazing meals made from fresh, locally grown organic ingredients. The bonus? Not every meal needs to be ‘occasion dining’ so, for a more laid-back dinner with the family or a group of friends, we’ve selected a country pub and our local club for you.

At the Mount Warning Hotel in Uki, settle back on the expansive verandah and sip on a cooling drink while taking in the breathtaking views. Their restaurant is open seven days a week and offers traditional pub fare with excellent specials on different days of the week. Ah, the serenity!
