Living in the Northern Rivers means that you not only have access to some of the best local produce that the region has to offer, but also, you can also enjoy some of the most delectable meals with some amazing views that will take your breath away.

Here’s a rundown of some of the best eateries that we’ve found that not only offer delicious meals but also some fantastic views to please all of your senses.

Raes on Wategos

6-8 Marine Parade, Byron Bay

Raes on Wategos is a boutique retreat set right on the beach. In the Dining Room, enjoy modern Australian cuisine that has a touch of the Mediterranean, all while enjoying the glorious views over Wategos Beach.

As well as à la carte dining, Raes offers a six-course tasting menu or their recently introduced Prix Fixe three-course menu curated by executive chef Jason Saxby. For something a little more casual, Raes Cellar Bar offers casual beachside dining so you can sit back and relax while you take in the gorgeous ocean views.

Fig Tree restaurant

4 Sunrise Lane, Ewingsdale

Set among a lush landscape that incorporates a kitchen garden and a thriving orchard is the delightful Fig Tree. Both the garden and the orchard produce delectable fresh produce for the kitchen. The restaurant itself is located in the original farmhouse that sits on a hill overlooking the Byron Bay Lighthouse. Not only do you get glorious views over the bay but also the amazing hinterland.

After you’ve enjoyed a spot of lunch, take a stroll through the beautiful manicured gardens, visit the olive grove or wander through the massive orchard and then head back to the restaurant to enjoy a delectable dinner made from all of this fresh produce.

Tweed River House

131 River Street, South Murwillumbah

For something a little different, why not enjoy a bite to eat on the deck of the Tweed River House with views over the Tweed River and the majestic mountains beyond. And you certainly won’t be disappointed by the food ‒ this restaurant received a chef hat by the 2022 Australian Good Food Guide. The restaurant is housed within a magnificent century-old homestead that has been lovingly restored to its former glory.

Frida’s Field

76 Booyong Road, Nashua

Set in a 120-acre farm in the Byron Bay Hinterland, just 10 minutes from Bangalow, Frida’s Field specialises in long lunches (three a week). Each menu is carefully curated by award-winning chef Alastair Waddell to incorporate the fresh seasonal produce that is available both from their ecological farm and around the Northern Rivers region.

Paper Daisy at Halcyon House

21 Cypress Crescent, Cabarita Beach

The Paper Daisy restaurant, located within the magnificent Halcyon House right on Cabarita Beach, is only open for external guests for dinner from 6pm. However, you can enjoy a drink at the bar from 3 pm.

Beach Byron Bay

Clarkes Beach, 2 Massinger Street, Byron Bay

Beach is set right on the waterfront overlooking Clarkes Beach, from where you can enjoy glorious views over the sparkling waters while you’re enjoying a tantalising meal with friends.

During the day, you can enjoy a tasty snack, a spot of breakfast or a nice hot latte from the beach kiosk. Then, head to the Deck for lunch or dinner and sample some of the best regional produce including sensational seafood.

Shelter

41 Pacific Parade, Lennox Head

Located opposite Seven Mile Beach in Lennox Head, Shelter is a favourite amongst locals and visitors to the region. The focus of the menu is ethically sourced, seasonal and local produce, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

Beef & Beach

17-19 Pacific Parade, Lennox Head

In the Lennox Hotel, which is situated right on the beach at Lennox Head, you’ll find Beef & Beach. In the restaurant, you can enjoy delicious meals that incorporate local produce sourced from farms around the region as well as local fishermen and growers.

Then you can sit back and enjoy a drink or two while enjoying the magnificent and ever-changing views over the ocean.

Shelly Beach Cafe

1 Shelly Beach Road, East Ballina

With its ‘right on the beach’ vibe, great food and service that’s second to none, the Shelly Beach Cafe is the perfect spot to chill on a lazy weekend.
